Congradulations.

I will not be there, but I will pray that you will serve Christ as a son, and not as a tool. That was the prayer request that ++Rowan Williams asked of the communion, on the eve of his election as ABC. I think it the best prayer to offer anyone ordained in these times.

Jane:

I know you have been looking forward to this step for some time and through many struggles. That this must surely rejoice you I think I can take as a given. Please accept my congratulations on reaching this personal milestone.

I prayed for you and your family this morning, as I do each day.

Thanks, folks!

A couple of notes I will offer, here:

Shari: Rowan Williams indeed asked to serve Christ as a son-- as I fervently pray that Jesus will accept this daughter's service, as well.

Cliff: A "personal milestone?" In a way, perhaps... however, and with due respect, this journey has been many things, but never once about my achieving a personal goal. And the further I go, the less I find it is about me, at all-- except that this is the ongoing response that is required of me, if I am to follow God's will. I know we do not agree on this, but there it is. And I am grateful for your prayers.
