The true harbinger of spring

Crocuses and early bulbs are pretty, but really don't mean much. I don't care what the weather looks like outside my window. And never mind that overpublicized rodent and his shadow. Spring was officially ushered in today, with those four magic words:
"Pitchers and Catchers Report"

Sorry, Don. The spring flowers coming up are lovely, of course; but they are not my primary indicator that winter will actually come to an end. They are glorious confirmation, though. :-)

Eh...not so much. I think it has to be blooming things. Axaleas or dogwood are what I used to look for. Now, well, there ain't much in the big city that blooms.
