EAU CLAIRE: Bishop installs diocese's first woman priest-in-charge

[Source: Diocese of Eau Claire, Wisconsin] History in the making was witnessed by family, friends and clergy from near and far who attended the institution of the priest-in-charge of St. John's, Sparta, the evening of April 14. The Rev. Leigh Farley Waggoner became the first woman priest in charge of a congregation in the Diocese of Eau Claire.

Leigh was a Seabury classmate and a joy to be around. I couldn't be more tickled for her, and for the congregation of St. John's, Sparta. You'll need to scroll down a bit, but you can read the rest of the article here.

Interesting that the snippet came immediately below the article destcribing Bp. Smith's use of canon law to inhibit an orthodox priest and put in syncophant in his place.

As I recall the Philadelphia 11 were ordained against canon law and liberals such as yourself said that the canons didn't matter. The Conneticut 6 are persecuted using a loophole in canon law that was meant for inhibiting priests who abandoned the Anglican
communion for the RC church.

The silence of you liberals is deafening.

The silence of your bishop who pretends to be orthodox is even more deafening.

Maybe you should read the article. Bp. Smith removed Fr. Hansen for abandoning his parish. A sabbatical for an unspecified period of time in addition to not leaving a forward address hardly seems orthodox.

You find the "liberal silence" deafening, but I find it equally telling that you post anonymously. That's about as brave as a member of the KKK hiding behind a sheet.

Nevertheless, I will pray that God grants me a way to understand all people who feel they must sabotage good news with anger.

I have already posted why I am particularly offended by Jane's overlooking the first minor entry in order to talk about the second on her most recent essay.

Are you telling me that if I wrote a note telling people to overlook a "minor" news article saying something like "bishop inhibits priest because he refused to abandom sick same sex partner" in order to draw the attention of the board to a note saying "conservative blogger is voted most interesting junior blog-person of his suburban subdivision" the rest of you would not be offended?

It is the very lightness and unimportance that is offensive.
But as you say, I should in fact blog about it myself.

None the less, the deafening silence of progressives on this matter is truly impressive. All liberals. Not just Jane. I haven't heard a single voice noticing it, not even AKMA who is a regular reader of Titus One Nine. Can they all be blind, deaf and stupid? I don't think so. I think better of "progressives" than that.

Three comments above were deleted-- one for inappropriate attacks, and two for excessive length.

The latter iincluded the Statement of the Vestry of St. John’s Episcopal Church, Bristol, CT and an account (from a vestry member) of Bishop Smith's seizure of St. John. Both can be found at the blog Titusonenine

Jane Ellen,

Congratulations to your friend. This is wonderful.

Seems like things got a bit out of control regarding this post.

That's a shame, because unrelated news from other places should in no way diminish your good news.
