Parting the seas... or not.
Sounds like a nifty idea, yes? So we figured if Moses can have faith enough to do it, so could we-- that we'd part Flathead Lake so we could walk over to Wild Horse Island.
We learned that having faith in ourselves is a fine thing, but not quite the same as faith in God. And that commanding miracles doesn't work so well when it's not God's idea in the first place-- even if you do have vestments and a really cool Moses-like staff.
"...God was pleased through the foolishness of what was preached to save those who believe."

I'm glad that I am not on the altar guild. John
Personally I think it had something to do with the blue sneakers... should have had sandals on and it probably would have worked. Moses would never had had blue sneakers. Try it again with sandals... yeah.. yeah.. that's the ticket!
Fr. John: Perhaps you're right... feel free to give it a shot with sandals next time you're up there, and let me know how it goes.
John: After years under my grandmother's tutelage, I know better than to invoke the wrath of the altar guild. Both alb and chasuble were machine washable.
